Located in the old Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Depot on the corner of Main Street and Rio Grande Ave.  We welcome you to join us where all ages can learn, reflect and enjoy the many facets of the heritage of Montrose, Colorado and its surrounding areas.


                     Open May to  October                   

             Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

               Saturdays - 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Early Pioneer Life, Farming, Ranching, Mining, Clothing, Household Items, General Store, Musical Instruments, Children's Interests and Toys, Medical Equipment, Native American Artifacts, Railroad Items and Early Electrical Devices.

Exhibits outside the 1912 railroad depot building include early modes of transportation, an extensive collection of farming and mining implements, a Cowboy line Cabin, a furnished Homestead House and authentic Caboose.

An extensive research library housed at the Museum contains historical newspapers, publications, photos, artifact information, marital & cemetery records - all available to the public upon request.

A selection of books and T-shirts are available to purchase.  We're always getting new books.
